BOARD MEETING

Attending: JoAnn Witek, Rachel Kinicki, Pam Nourse, Robyn Harding, Lisa Soo, Beth McDonough, Jim Conoby, Michelle Christensen, Lee Tyler, Mark Hickey, Suzanne Brozek, Jen Moss, Dave Clough, Walter Foster, Erica Davidson, Wendy Bryson, Donna Bottari, Susan Krikorian, Paulette Joyce, Linda McCann, Marcia Cece Epstein.
Secretary’s Report: Marcia Cece Epstein. A motion was made, seconded, and accepted to approve the March 3, 2008 Minutes with the following change: “add JoAnn Witek and Jim Brozek as attendees”.
Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Soo. Re Student Account activity, $6,200 is in student accounts. Remaining senior student account monies go into scholarship funds. $19,000 overall is available. A motion was made, seconded, and accepted to approve the March 31, 2008 Treasurer’s Report.
Directors’ Reports:
Mark Hickey. Attended the All-State teacher workshop. The following students performed Saturday afternoon at Symphony Hall: Yi Liu, Nora Murphy, Eric Sheehan, Jacob Conrad, Ryan Maserang. Winter Guard and Winter Percussion performed at Everett High School. WP has made it into a 5 Star category. Finals are next weekend at Dartmouth High School. ….. Spring Concert is May 6 with a start time of 7:00. ….. D.C. Trip. $11 is being added to the trip for a Saturday night bowling outing. A motion was made, seconded and accepted to approve $1824.34 for the bowling outing costs. …….. IAJE State Finals were Sunday morning at Algonquin Regional High School with the Jazz Band receiving a Silver overall with some Gold areas. …… New Uniforms. The bids that went out on March 1 have come in, as follows: Stanbury: $73,190; DeMoulin: $85,917.80; Fruehof: $113,750. The uniform consists of bib pants, jacket, epaulets, and six drum major uniform jackets. The Uniform Committee will get together again after the D.C. Trip.
Jen Moss. April 9: Lexington HS Chorus and AB Chorus will perform in a joint concert at 7:30. ….. April 11. The Women’s Ensemble will travel to Westboro HS and perform with Downbeat. … The Madrigals will perform at Blanchard School’s student meeting. April 18. The Boston Heritage Festival. …. Twenty-five students attended the dress rehearsal for the opera Elixir of Love. … Madrigal Dinner. Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, at The Acton Congregational Church. Sue Pederman will succeed Nancy Duggan.
Refreshments: Rachel Kinicki. Karen Parrot and Faith Szydlo will manage snacks at the May 6 Spring Concert.
Golf Tournament: Walter Foster and Dave Clough. The golf tournament tentatively set to take place at Shaker Hills on September 25. Red Tail at Devins also is available and will give a deal if the tournament falls one week later. The price will drop from $120 to $95. The start time will be 1:00. The “magic number” for getting the whole course is 72 golfers. Dave made a presentation of a free internet tool for running a golf tournament. The “Golf Digest Tournament Planner” takes care of everything. The only cost associated with its use is a 3.9% charge off credit cards. This program can be viewed at http://www.golfdigestplanner.com.
Music Banquet: Erica Davidson. There are Heads for all committees. The next meeting is April 17. There was a question of awards being put into the Program. Regarding listing awards in the AB Graduation Program, the Principal is not willing to list them unless they are given out at Awards’ Night. The Department continues to support presenting them at the Banquet v. Awards’ Night. The recipients’ names will be submitted to The Beacon.
Car Wash: Michelle Christensen. The car wash will take place on May 17.
Fifer’s Day Parade is Saturday, June 21, the 350th Anniversary of Boxborough.
A motion was made, seconded, and accepted to adjourn. Next meeting is Monday, May 12, 2008, 8 p.m., Room 115.
