Directors’ Reports:
Mark Hickey. Twenty AB students performed at Senior District last week…. This Saturday 40 students are auditioning for the Junior Festival … Auditions for All State take place on Saturday, February 26. Junior High Chorus performs January 15 … Jr. High Band performs January 22. ….. BRIGADOON opens February 1 with shows February 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9. … DC TRIP: Working on a White House Tour. Itinerary will be available the end of January. …. Mr. Hickey appeared before the School Committee and requested a completely new set of uniforms; the impression is that it will support this request. Mr. Hickey’s request to add a String Orchestra, however, did not seem to get the same support.
Winter Percussion. Chris Bent has been hired as a drill instructor. WP Camp will take place January 26 and 27.
Jen Moss. Chorus and Band sent 135 students to Faneuil Hall. Ben Caesar produced a country CD at Cabaret and donated the sales proceeds to ABFOM. …..
The Pan Choral Concert will be split this year between two nights due to large enrollment. The elementary school and H.S. will perform Monday March 3 at 7 p.m.; the Junior High and H.S. will perform Tuesday March 4.
Jeremy Denzer. Winter Guard is requesting an additional $250 for costuming. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to provide $250 to Winter Guard for costuming. The four-minute performance competition will begin in March.
Music Banquet: Erica Davidson. The Banquet will take place May 22, 2008. Photos of seniors for the Senior Banner were taken at the Winter Concert. A venue change is anticipated due to the large enrollment in Band and Chorus. The Banquet Committee is working together with Band and Chorus Officers.
Website: Suzanne Brozek for Peter Norton. Changes to the website include separate pages for band, chorus, color guard, winter percussion, etc. Peter is taking a leadership role in developing ideas and in implementation; in the past, the website was a group/committee effort.
Band Uniforms. Michelle Christensen. Working to get drumline and sousaphones into jackets for the DC Parade. All uniforms are to be returned in January and the students will be refitted in February for DC Parade readiness.
NEW UNIFORMS. Mr. Hickey appeared before the School Committee and requested a completely new set of uniforms; as noted above, it looks like the School Committee will support this request. Therefore, the Uniform Committee will hold off on ordering replacement pieces.
Refreshments: Rachel Kinicki. $170 was made at the Winter Concert.
Dunkin Donuts Sale: Suzanne Brozek. Will seek a chair since students expressed an interest in running this fundraiser again.
ABFOM Alumni: Suzanne Brozek. A group of Alumni would like to organize an Alumni Membership Program to support the ABFOM. There was discussion regarding whether the program would like to have an Alumni Association. The Alumni Association would perhaps create a directory of special skills and work to support the educational endeavors of the AB Music Program.
Car Wash: Michelle Christensen. The car wash committee requested dates for two car washes that have historically been held in spring and the Saturday following Band Camp.
A motion was made, seconded, and approved to adjourn. Next meeting Monday, February 4, 2008, 7 p.m. Room 115
