BOARD MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 1, 2008

Attending: Jen Moss, Suzanne Brozek, Mark Hickey, Jeremy Denzer, Lisa Soo, Karen Parrott, Marcia Cece, Paulette Joyce, Erica Davidson, Sue Niro, Susan Kri korian, Jane Egge, Wendy Bryson, Jim Conoby, Donna Bottari, Walter Foster, Beth McDonough

Secretary’s Report: Marcia Cece. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the November 3, 2008 Minutes.

Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Soo. There was a decrease of approximately 150 pies from last year’s sale. $4,184 went into the student accounts. Eleven band uniforms were sold. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the December 1, 2009 Treasurer’s Report.

Directors’ Reports:

Mark Hickey. Band earned top honors at Quincy’s 56th Holiday Parade. $1,000 prize. AB in playoff game to determine entry into the Super Bowl. Winter Concert December 9. Winter Percussion and Winter Guard started. ….. 23 band , chorus, and orchestra students made it to District. 12 students earned All-State recommendations. … ABCC sent letter extending time needed for funding due to State Budget questions. … The Air Force Band of Liberty Jazz Band will perform at the AB auditorium – free and open to the public.


Jen Moss. Cabaret successful – sold over 700 tickets v. 570-80 at the smaller venue. Faneuil Hall December 19, 5-7 .m. Jane Egge organizing chaperones. Room sign ups, chaperone itinerary set for Quebec/Montreal trip…. Beezlebubs – Tufts University a cappella group to appear Friday, February 27, 2009. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to appropriate $1,000 fee for the Beezlebubs who will provide a workshop for student a cappella groups and perform for the band.

Jeremy Denzer. 8 students showed interest at Color Guard Open House. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to appropriate up to $1,000 for 2008/2009 Winter Guard program s upplies.

Poinsettia Sale. 236 Plants sold, delivery Dec. 5, pick up Dec. 6 from 8L30-10:30. There will be delivery this year.

Dessert Sale. Donna Bottari. Sale was close to last year’s numbers. 105 students participated. $2 per piece sold will be added to the students’ accounts to increase their income from $4/pie to $6/pie. A motion was made, seconded, and approved that participating students will receive $6/pie v. $4/pie.

Coffee Sale. Simona Petcu, HS/Wendy Bryson/Jr.High. Forms to students on January 26, due February 11.

Music Banquet. Erica Davidson. The Banquet will be held May 21. Looking for a venue –=2 0Holiday Inn is booked. Cathy Olliver is co-chairing this committee.

Uniforms. Suzanne Brozek for Michelle Christensen. Researching turning band uniforms into commemorative pillows. Uniform sent to two companies for samples to be made. Will attempt to sell pants and plumes on e-Bay.

Spring Fundraiser. Mr. Hickey would like a student fundraiser – hoping to take students to Disney next year.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn.
