BOARD MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 2, 2009
Attending: Beth McDonough, Lisa Soo, Mark Hickey, Michelle Christensen, Wendy Bryson, Jeremy Denzer, Paulette Joyce, Erica Davidson, Jane Egge, Marcia Epstein Cece.
Secretary’s Report: Marcia Epstein Cece. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the December 1, 2008 and January 5, 2009 Minutes as presented.
Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Soo. Flowers were sent in memory of Kevin Daigle.
Under “financial position” the $4,400 amount is monies that could be owed, i.e., monies promised. Possible outlays – Beezlebubs, $1,000; conductor in residence, $1,000; Opera Awakening, Winter Percussion, and Winter Guard. Grants are looking more unlikely which may affect the above-mentioned amounts. A copy of the Treasurer’s Report is attached to and made a part of these Minutes.
Directors’ Reports:
Jen Moss, by Mark Hickey. Meeting for all chaperones after February break….Beezlebubs performance on Friday, February 27. Schedule as follows: 10 a.m., performance for choir and drama classes; 11 a.m., workshop with a cappella groups; noon, lunch; 1:30, performance for band; 2 p.m. depart. ….. Opera Awakening. Meet the cast night, February 3. Pan Choral Concert. March 9, 7 p.m. – Gates and Blanchard Elementary Choruses, Sophtones, Madrigals; March 10, 7th and 8th grade choruses, Concert Choir, Madrigals.
Mark Hickey. 2/10, Air Force Liberty Big Band at ABRHS Auditorium. Workshop for band 8th period. … 22 students accepted to Junior District. … H.S. Jazz Band – Mass Branch offering a festival on 3/3 at Reading H.S. UNH offers a full day jazz program on 3/14. … Florida trip moving ahead. Waiting for a formal acceptance from the Parade Committee .. On hold for now.
Winter Guard. Jeremy Denzer. Preparing for lst competition. Friends and Family Night tentatively set for 2/24 at 7:30 in the lower gym.
Uniforms. Michelle Christensen. On e-Bay. Three pillow samples brought in. Students will be able to order from forms provided by Michelle.
Car Wash. Preferred dates in order: 1) Mary 16; 2) May 30, 3) May 9, and 4) May 2.
Pancake Breakfast with Lions. Meeting was suggested to meet with The Lions to discuss teaming up for a Pancake Breakfast on Patriots Day. Decided it was not appropriate at this time as many students away during Spring Break.
Fundraising. Mark Hickey will start discussion on “Golf Drop” idea.
Banquet. Erica Davidson. Had first meeting. Last year’s fee of $20 did not cover costs of $24.60 (per plate plus administration and service charges). Decorations and invitations have been donated. The Holiday Inn gave a break by pricing a lunch vs. a dinner menu. Students can pay for tickets from student accounts. An electronic vote will be taken on raising the cost of the Banquet from $20 to $25 per ticket.
A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn. Next meeting March 2, 2009 at 7 pm.
