Secretary’s Report: Marcia Cece Epstein. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the June 2, 2008 Minutes with following changes: line 2: $11,000 spend ... add: “on the banquet” … line 3: add: “Soft Touch” before Scholarship. line 4: change $1,084 to “$970” going to Winter=2 0Guard. line 5: Delete “thus the $23,179 will decrease”
Treasurer’s Report: Lisa Soo. Quebec Deposit for chorus spring trip is in. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept the Treasurer’s Report for Year Ended June 30, 2008 and August 3, 2008, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these Minutes.
Director’s Report: Mark Hickey. Year started off with 75 band members performing in WE GOT THE BEAT, a movie with scenes being produced in Leominster. ….. Staff: Drew will not be returning. A new drill instructor will be hired. ….. Band currently at 180 students with a question of additional students who have moved into Acton/Boxborough over the summer. …. Neil Smith, drill writer, has drill completed for the season. Band Camp takes place August 18-22 with a.m. drill, afternoon music, evening drill. Lee Tyler will attend the first day in order to take CORI forms. Will send out a Constant Comment reminding folks to volunteer. …. Volunteers will work in 4-hour shifts to accommodate the gaps between shifts. Color Guard: Mr. Hickey for Jeremy Denzer. 14 girls in Color Guard. … new uniforms on order. … Karen Harris has been sewing flags. … Practicing on Tuesdays throughout the summer.
Membership: Erica Davidson. Approx. 75 people have mailed in checks. Erica will be at Band Camp on the first day. Jen Moss will bring membership forms from Chorus members.

Car Wash. Bob Xiong has agreed to co-chair the car wash and take over duties when Flemming “graduates”. George Countryman will assist Bob at the 8/30 car wash.
Golf Tournament: Walter Foster. September 25, Shaker Hills. Shotgun start at 1:00. Registration from noon – 1:00. $150/golfer includes lunch. $30/dinner only. Prizes: Hole in One; Longest Drive; Winning foursome. Mulligans will be for sale.A few foursomes are signed up. Asking everyone to come up with a foursome. A few sponsorships have come in. Sponsorships and auction items are 100% profit. Want to elicit contributions to fund a lst runner up trip to Cancun. 2nd runner up gets 5 rounds of golf. … Few items coming up for auction. Erica Davidson will help with evening event. … Registration site is up and the link will be put on the ABFOM website shortly. Would like to get chorus more included in leadership positions. …. Darcy Sidwell will be running a sponsorship drive. Is forming a Sponsorship Committee. … Looking for someone for publicity. Need people who will come to the auction. Sandy Bean, alumni, is working on sponsorships. Dave Clough, Walter Foster, and possibly Don Brady will handle the golf part.
New Business. Suzanne Brozek. Football Boosters has asked ABFOM to place an ad: l/4 page: $55; ½ page $110. Agreed to purchase ½ page ad. … Wednesday evening of Band Camp will be a meeting for new parents: “Band Camp 101”. … Motion made, seconded and approved to adjourn. Next Meeting, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 for abbreviated business meeting before Annual Meeting.
