News and reminders for Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Percussion

2009 Winter Percussion Begins
Tuesday, November 18th, 6 to 9 PM

We have 26 students sign-up for the program! The students are learning the
music during band and are generating lots of energy at this early stage.
It's going to be an exciting season!

The program schedule will be posted on the FOM web site. There will be minor
changes as the season progresses. Everyone will be notified when changes
occur.

The program is titled "The Machine":

From the publisher - The Machine" is a fast-paced journey through the inner
workings of machinery. Starting out with "Blueprints", performers hit the
ground running with smoking mallet runs. "Construction" pulls back slightly,
but is strongly rhythmic. "Activation" builds to a dramatic climax with a
fierce throw down (lots of notes) section for the battery.

Tim Cleary will join us as the visual instructor this season. Barry Powell
will return as our battery technician. Bill Connelly will be joining us as
our "do-it-all" guru.

Safety concerns:
.. Ear protection for all members will be REQUIRED this season.
.. Closed toed foot wear is still required. No sandals of any kind.

Members must have a three ring binder with plastic sleeves, anti-glare work
best. These will hold music and visual charts and help with changes to the
program.

There will be additional costs to students for sticks/mallets, show tee
shirt and costumes. We work very hard to keep these costs down, but plan on
a $50 to $80 range.

As always we'll be asking for help from parents as the show develops.

I can be contacted at lhough@mail.ab.mec.edu or lhuff@tiac.net
